Moyes Contract First Of A Flurry Of Signings?

Everton manager David Moyes today confirmed that he has held talks with Chairman Bill Kenwright about the signing of a new contract. Rumours had been circulating that Moyes was set to let his contract run down, as many believed he hadn’t been given assurances that he would be backed in the transfer market, and that his new five year plan, which included the expansion of the scouting system to be on par with the likes of Arsenal and United, that Moyes handed to the board at the start of the year, had been rejected. However with the expected signing of Moyes’ contract, rumoured to be worth £3million a year until 2013, this will hopefully be the sign that Moyes has the resources to push us on to 4th and some much needed silverware.
This could lead to a flurry of signatures, with Czech defender Marek Suchy confirming contact with his agent, Sporting keeper Stojkovic on trial with Everton, as well as strong rumours linking Gilberto, Riki, Lichtsteiner and Fletcher with a move to Goodison. However those players aren’t exactly that appealing….. Moutinho and Cana would be much nicer.

To many false dawns for me, so much promised and not alot delivered by EFC. These past 2 seasons have been a miracle for us, but don’t kid yer selves lads and lassies, we have been very, very, lucky and at times very very poor!
Roy Keane’s ghost writer speaks very well on this subject. He suggests that footballers are paid so well these days, the average chest-thumping, up-and-at-em manager has no place in the modern game. Let us hope that David Moyes is above that, and that he gets some assistance from the board.
